The 3D printing process begins with a 3D model of the object, usually created by computer-aided design (CAD) software. The CAD software slices your model into cross-sectional layers, creating a computer file that is sent to the 3D printer. The 3D printer then creates the object by forming each layer via the selective placement (or forming) of the material.

To get started printing with your new 3D Stuffmaker, you will need to use a CAD program to either make or print CAD files. There are many professional CAD programs available that you can use with your new 3D printer, as well as helpful tools and websites for the CAD beginner. In order to help you get started, we have compiled a list of links.
