Girls Can Now Code and 3D Print Bracelets

Shapeways has announced its collaboration with Google on a new Made with Code initiative that is designed to inspire millions of girls to code and create bracelets. The Made with Code initiative offers simple and fun projects, designed to help girls take the first step in learning how to code their own bracelets. The initiative’s premier project is a coding project that is based on Blockly, Google’s visual programming editor. The project enables girls to create a custom bracelet that Shapeways will then 3D print in its factory based out of New York City.

Made-with-code[1]

It is easy to create a Made with Code 3D printed bracelet. The first step is to begin by coding it. Girls between the ages of 13 – 18 should visit Made with Code and choose “Code a Bracelet” from the Projects tab. From here, they may use Blockly programming language to set the color, width, diameter and message of the bracelet. You may then order it and once the design is complete, have it printed. A limited number of bracelets will also be available free of charge from Google, and then anyone will be able to order more bracelets by downloading the digital file from Made with Code.
