Mega Prusa is a reprap open source explorer kit designed for printing most complex, larger printed objects. Our Prusa models offer a foundation that allows to acquire knowledge of robotics, 3D CNC things like: – 3D printing, CAD, electronics, programming, CNC mechanics, PIC CNC interfaces etc.

We have engineered 3D systems and it has been fun but also very challenging. Every new reprap idea is fun to explore- but takes time to work out. so Prusa is for learning and mucking around with exciting stuff and not designed to be an out-of-the-box retail 3D printer at all. Working of Mega Prusa

The working of the Mega Prusa mainly depends on the Stepper motor which is subsequently divided in the ratio of 1:1:2 among X, Y and Z axis subsequently. X axis consists of X end Stepper motor at one end and X end idler at the other end and X carriage in the middle to which the Nozzle is fixed.

At the Y end, there is another Stepper motor with another timing belt, which helps in the movement of the acrylic Print plate.

At the Z end there are two Stepper motors which would help in the upward movement of the Nozzle assembly according to the advancement in the printing process.

The most mandatory element in our 3d plastic printer process is the PLA which is fed into the Teflon tube and one end of the PLA is fixed to the extruder and the other end of the PLA is fixed to the X carriage assembly.

Printing Process

The software which we use will only support .stl file.
After uploading the .stl file the slicing of the uploaded object happens according to different scales which are almost similar to the scanning process.
After slicing of the object, it gets converted into G-code after which the printing of the object begins.
At first, the PLA is heated and the melted filament flows out through the nozzle which has both the thermistor and resistor.
After testing the flow of the PLA the printing could be started.
The acrylic plate which is fixed to the Y axis moves in accordance with the nozzle which is in the X axis and there is a limit switch which is inclusive of the optosensor which would help in limiting the movement of the acrylic plate to a certain limit according to the uploaded object to be printed
The movement of both the acrylic plate and nozzle are controlled with the help of the stepper motor of 3.5 kg and a timing belt of 5.08 pitch with corresponding pulleys is used here.
Power supply which could be used for this is 12V 5Amps with which the printer could operate.
