3D Printed Stamp Unveiled for UNNC 10th Anniversary

Two students from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) have unveiled a special tribute to the anniversary of their university in the form of a 3D printed stamp, highly detailed and which closely resembles the clock tower of their campus. The stamp measures at 25 x 25 x 77 and has only its top section slightly modified to enable it to actually function as a stamp. This stamp will read ‘宁诺十年’, which means “Ten years of UNNC”. This cool clock tower stamp will also be made available on the internet, while users will be able to customize its bottom design to read whatever they wish.

The 3D printed stamp is the creation of students Cui Xiang and Shi Yin, who hoped to employ modern technology for the development of this ancient, traditional tool. They opted for 3D printing as it would be the most practical tool for customers who want an original yet interesting appearance in their 3D printed products. This is a step forward from the traditional production methods which meant that the shape of the stamp would be defined by the original stone’s shape. The idea to produce the stamp via 3D printing enabled the designers to develop a stamp with an appearance that is more attractive and symbolic.
